What should I buy?
I am (hopefully) selling my motorcycle. I haven't ridden in years because I won't put my wife and I on it at the same time, since my son was born. This pains my wife because she also wants to ride. Anyway, I am looking for a decent awd or 4x4. Preferably something with a bit of powah, but honestly just want something decent to drive through the snow on my way to work. I have kind of looked at Cherokees and Subies. Any suggestions?

You don't need AWD for snow :p
However, there is the 2003-2006 Matrtix/Vibe AWD. Maybe you can find one in your price range.
There is also the Suzuki Aerio SX AWD.
A very affordable, and overlooked, choice is the Tracker/Sidekick/Vitara. Real 4x4, spacious, and fuel-efficient.

I would just invest it for a little while. I'm seeing a 6% return on my investments a month. I almost made a big purchase about a year ago. I'm glad I didn't, I have almost double to spend now by just investing my money in a few things.

SR5 pick up or 4runner. Good mpg, easy to work on and in my experience of owning a couple they are bullet proof.

There actually is a Sidekick locally but it is a bit on the high end of my price. I havent been able to find any Aerios either. Found one for about $6k.
I go to work pretty early in the AM and live in a valley. There have been times I couldnt get down the block and had to go in late after the roads were plowed.

Thanks but i don't think that will get me up the mountain in the snow. :-)
Also... Mustang Coupe? I thought they only made sedans.

That is sound life-advice, but doesn't help me drive to work.

I was expecting a lot more of this. Miata is always the answer. And there are a few for sale around here.

This is actually a really good recommendation but I have had a hard time finding them in my range. They are few and far between around here.

In that case you can't go wrong with a Cherokee. The straight 6s are practically bullet proof.

I'm going to suggest something a little out there.. how about an Aztek?
The fact that they're ugly as sin destroyed their resale value, they come in AWD, and I have heard that owners actually really like them for their practicality. It's the aesthetic equivalent of erectile dysfunction, but when you're looking at the $3k market, options are going to be a little limited unless you're willing to buy something with 250000km or more.

AMC Eagle, all day long.
Style for miles, a truly excellent 4x4 that will take you places only a Land Rover can go, and a 0-60 time of "yes, it will go from 0-60."
Your friends will admire you, strangers will want to talk to you, your Eagle will become your best friend. The two of you will have adventures. You'll end up with a picture of your Eagle on your desk to show to anyone who stops by.
You can find good examples for well under $3k, leaving you some cash left over to spend on a gift for the wife.
Think about it, wouldn't you like this to be you? (Minus the awful music.)

You should also consider the 1998-2000 Volvo V70XC. AWD and a turbo 5 to boot.
Great for snow and comfy as hell for the fam. Plus, Volvo. For life...

If by some miracle you could find a Celica all trac within your price range that would be a pretty sweet ride.

This would basically blow my whole stash but I have actually looked at the ad before. Could maybe talk him down some but I would still need to worry about passing state inspection with those SEL's.

6% a month? 72% annual interest rate. with monthly compounding that's a 101% rate of return - more than doubling your money per year. If you can actually do that, you should be a billionaire running a hedge fund. Nobody gets those rates of return.

Autotrader shows exactly two for sale nationwide, with the cheapest at $3,600

You don't say where you are, but I'd think about an AWD minivan. Chevy Venture, GMC Safari/Chevy Astro, Chrysler Town and Country/Dodge Caravan. Autotrader shows 133 AWD minivans for sale under $3500 nationwide.

That's not bad.
There are two Eagle wagons on eBay right now, one for $1,600 and one for $1,000 — but they'd be projects.
Eagles make their way through eBay pretty regularly, an SX4 sold for $1,525 in running but rough shape, and some pristine examples have been going north of $4k, still a nice price.

Ford Taurus with Blizzaks the whole way around. It will go fairly well in the snow and it's a tank.
You wont be too upset when you crash it or someone crashes into you.

For less money, you can find 4x4 minivans. Astro/Safari, Venture, Caravan/Grand Voyager. About the same gas mileage, more space, and possibly anti-lock brakes.

If you want to avoid violently heaving as you walk towards your Aztek, you could get a Buick Rendezvous, they are on the same chassis.

E30 + Blizzaks + LSD + sand bag. Daily driven around Chicago, easily got me through every snowfall/snowstorm the city threw at me.
Or E30 325ix.

I would actually argue that the Rendezvous is more of a visual assault than the Aztek. Since I compared the Aztek to the visual equivalent of erectile dysfunction, the Rendezvous is the visual equivalent to discovering erectile dysfunction after successfully seducing Sasha Grey and taking her home.

Of course I don't always have that kind of return... But I've been doing very well, as is pretty much everyone. My advisor said 4% is the norm for his clients lately. Tons of growth for me, AMR helped, a company I bought mid Nov has a 12% gain to date for me, and a couple other things blew up for me. I have some income stocks as well.

I made some off American. I have a few other companies in the airline industry that are doing well. I have a few MLPs. Even a furniture company has also doubled in price for me this year.
